Council to investigate the potential of working towards zero carbon emissions by 2050

Georges River Council will prepare a report to investigate the impact of potential sustainability targets on Council, in response to a Notice of Motion raised by Councillor Warren Tegg at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 23 April 2019. andnbsp; Targets proposed for adoption by Council include 100% renewable energy by 2025, net zero emissions by 2030 and zero carbon emissions by 2050.andnbsp; The report will investigate:andnbsp; The method of quantifying Councilandrsquo;s current emissions Proposed methods for reducing/offsetting emissions An indicative timeframe with key performance indicators for the targets set out above Relevant collaborative work being conducted by the 100 resilient Cities network and SSROC Any financial implications associated with achieving the targets set out above andnbsp; The likely financial support and expert assistance Council may need to achieve set targets The report is an important step for Council in moving towards a greener future and playing a bigger role in helping to combat the global issue of climate change. andnbsp;andnbsp;
